In an increasingly digitalized world, our rights face new challenges due to digital dehumanization and technological advancements. At TEDIC, we reaffirm our commitment to strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights online through our advocacy efforts. In this context, and as part of the international<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stopkillerrobots.org\/\"> <strong>Stop Killer Robots<\/strong><\/a> campaign, we fight to protect human rights against the threats posed by technological development, particularly regarding autonomous weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of this mission, we actively participated in the launch of the <strong>2024 Annual Report on the Human Rights Situation in Paraguay<\/strong>, organized by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.codehupy.org.py\/\">National Human Rights Coordinator in Paraguay (CODEHUPY<\/a>). This event brought together organizations and activists dedicated to promoting and protecting fundamental rights in our country. TEDIC contributed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tedic.org\/informe-de-derechos-humanos-2024\/\">an article<\/a> addressing the challenges and gaps in ensuring safety and protection in the digital realm. During this event, we also highlighted an issue we consider crucial: the regulation of autonomous weapons, also known as killer robots, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tedic.org\/instamos-a-paraguay-y-a-los-paises-miembros-de-la-onu-a-regular-las-armas-autonomas\/\">the use of artificial intelligence in national security.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"TEDIC y la regulaci\u00f3n de armas aut\u00f3nomas en el d\u00eda internacional de los derechos humanos\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uugRf5pdnm4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We provided resources and key messages from the <strong>Stop Killer Robots<\/strong> campaign, aiming to raise awareness among activists and human rights defenders about the risks of autonomous weapons. Through screenings, we showcased the exhibit <strong>Re(x)sistentes to Digital Dehumanization<\/strong>, which explores the profound ethical and social challenges of the digital age. Additionally, we shared a video created in collaboration with Paraguayan civil society organizations and members of the National Congress, advocating for the regulation of autonomous weapons. We also distributed brochures on this topic. At this intersection of technology and human rights, we strive to raise awareness about the dangers of killer robots and the critical need for regulations to safeguard humanity. We emphasize that technological advancement must always align with ethics, humanity, and the protection of our human rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Join the Campaign!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>At TEDIC, we continue working to encourage more individuals, organizations, and governments to join the <strong>Stop Killer Robots<\/strong> campaign. We aim to raise awareness and mobilize people to demand that technologies serve humanity as a whole. You too can be part of this cause! Follow us on social media, join the campaign, and help us ensure that human rights are the priority in technological development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We believe technology must serve people, never posing a threat to our fundamental rights. We will continue striving to make technological progress synonymous with human rights, justice, equity, and dignity. In response to increasing digital dehumanization, the <strong>Stop Killer Robots<\/strong> coalition works to guarantee human control in the use of force. The campaign advocates for new international legislation regulating autonomous weapon systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TEDIC has joined this international campaign, calling on states to impose limits on the development and use of these technologies. We alert the public to the dangers of autonomous technologies, particularly lethal autonomous weapons\u2014systems capable of identifying, selecting, and attacking targets without direct human intervention. These weapons, which rely on algorithms and artificial intelligence to make military decisions, pose a direct challenge to the fundamental principles of human rights, especially the right to life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Together, we can ensure that technological advancements reflect the values of humanity and ethics.
