The questions they answered were: Will AI create a world where nothing is real? Can technology solve tomorrow\u2019s problems? Should we halt the development of AI because the risks are too high?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"IAfter en la Mediateca \ud83e\udd16\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-4GBnFjb4YE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Can computers distinguish when it is or isn\u2019t morally and socially acceptable to take a life? This is the central premise driving the documentary <em>Immoral Code<\/em>, a piece that analyzes the impact of killer robots in an increasingly automated world\u2014where machines decide whom to kill or what to destroy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Automated decisions are being implemented across all areas of society. However, these algorithms have real limitations: such as the inability to discern life-and-death situations, or the presence of gender and racial biases. The danger of this autonomy is especially critical when applied to weapons systems. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Immoral Code \u2013 A Film by Stop Killer Robots\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xUU8YHa_Cjg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This documentary delves into the binary nature often found in automated processes involving robots programmed to kill, oversimplifying complex and difficult decisions that involve legal, ethical, technical, and safety issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The podcast we listened to that evening was produced by our Radio Cyborg team in collaboration with the theater group <em>En Borrador Teatro<\/em>: \u201cKiller Robots: Attacks on Our Borders.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-spotify wp-block-embed-spotify wp-embed-aspect-21-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Spotify Embed: Robots asesinos: Ataques en nuestras fronteras\" style=\"border-radius: 12px\" width=\"100%\" height=\"152\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/episode\/2VJu6Kgqz0IR0DRMtPo3Ig?si=Cy-rnRlWTEOW-acpbvy2Nw&#038;utm_source=oembed\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the audio piece, we theatrically narrated the implementation of robots by the Paraguayan government at the border between Ciudad del Este and Foz de Iguaz\u00fa, aimed at speeding up immigration processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several border regions on the continent are being invaded by these machines, which can randomly identify people as suspects and shoot them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Thank you to everyone who joined us and continues to explore the implications of technology in our daily lives and our fundamental rights.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At TEDIC, we\u2019ve been questioning, researching, and discussing AI for quite some time.
