Social media and digital tools have become important spaces for sharing information, organizing, and defending rights. But they can also become arenas for attacks, harassment, and intimidation, particularly targeting women who speak out and take on leadership roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Against this backdrop, TEDIC presents the study Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence Against Trade Union Members in Paraguay<\/em>. Written by Bel\u00e9n Cantero and Gloria Bareiro, the study examines how digital violence affects women who actively participate in trade union organizations across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The research centers on the experiences of women involved in trade unions and the different ways digital violence can affect their participation. Online attacks do not necessarily stay on screen: they can harm women\u2019s personal and working lives, instill fear, and create barriers for those seeking to defend their rights and represent other workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Drawing on surveys and interviews with women trade unionists, the study explores how this violence manifests, the consequences it has, and the challenges women face in seeking support and protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The study aims to contribute to public debate and encourage trade unions, civil society organizations, and public institutions to reflect on the need to prevent digital violence, strengthen protection mechanisms, and ensure that women can exercise their rights and take on leadership roles without fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
