Mente en Línea is an initiative led by TEDIC since 2021, aimed at opening up conversations about the relationship between mental health and the digital world. The project brings together outreach materials, research, and awareness resources that explore how our connected lives influence our emotions, habits, and ways of caring for ourselves.
Hosted at www.mentenlinea.org, the project includes a range of resources. Among them are five fanzines addressing different dimensions of this intersection:
- Our Life on Screens reflects on how we inhabit digital environments;
- Technostress and Digital Engagement explores patterns of intensive technology use;
- Digital Detox and Mental Health offers tools to rethink our relationship with screens;
- Children’s Online Privacy focuses on protecting children in digital environments;
- Mental Health Telecare analyzes the challenges and opportunities of remote care.
The website also features three podcast episodes, five articles, and white papers on topics such as cybersecurity and public health or persuasive technology, as well as seven videos produced with health professionals who share reflections and recommendations for engaging with the internet in a more mindful way. Some of this content emerged in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, a period in which the intensive use of digital technologies highlighted the importance of the relationship between emotional well-being and digital environments.
During 2025, the project incorporated new materials and expanded its activities through workshops aimed at adult caregivers of children and health professionals, as well as a social media and public awareness campaign designed to highlight the importance of caring for mental health in an increasingly digitalized world.
For TEDIC, Mente en Línea represents a space to think about mental health from a digital rights perspective. We understand that psychological well-being must also be protected in digital environments. Through this project, we aim to foster public conversation, produce accessible knowledge, and promote more conscious and collective care practices in our online lives.
Mente en Línea was part of the project on mental health on the internet during the COVID-19 era, an initiative made possible thanks to the support of the British Embassy in Asunción and collaborative work with the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare.
In 2025, the project was updated with the publication of new materials and the development of awareness and training activities, thanks to the support of APC (Association for Progressive Communications).
