A hacklab or hacker laboratory is a space where people with interests in science, new technologies, digital and electronic arts, permaculture and other similar interests can meet, socialize and collaborate.

It is an open and collective laboratory, a space where people with diverse knowledge and concerns can share and work on common projects. It makes available to amateurs and students of different levels the infrastructure and environment necessary to develop their technological projects, with the aim of concentrating resources and knowledge to promote research and development.

In a hacklab, a cooperative organization and learning system is usually used, mainly using free software due to the freedoms it offers and the ethical option it represents.
